NICK HOLIDAY

The Nick Holiday seasonal campaign was inspired by our experience of visiting Meowwolf. We wanted to create a 'Crazy Cabin’ complete with trap doors that would lead to hidden worlds and take you on an unexpected adventure. Inside this cabin there would be endless opportunities to create special holiday experiences. Once we got approval on the concept we partnered with Roger TV to make our Christmas wishlist a reality. Together we brainstormed ideas for show-specific IDs that featured our IP and then also generic holiday IDs. Roger TV was a perfect partner for this project. They started by doing mock-ups of the fantastical worlds as well as sketching the cabin iteslf. Once sketches were signed off on, they were busy modeling the cabin. Simultaneously they were planning the shoot, casting, figuring out what would be practical and what would be CG. It was a huge undertaking and the result exceeded our expectations.

After the shoot, while they were busy editing and compositing, the internal Nick design team explored type treatments and also the styling of some holiday icons. The icons would be used to dress up the holiday messaging on the air throughout the holiday for title cards, endpages, lower thirds and social graphics. We chose the font Neato Serif Rough, since it had some ‘built in’ texture that mimicked snow and paired it with the buttoned up Azo Sans for some contrast. For the icons, banners and accent elements we wanted them to look like the icing on Holiday cookies so they needed to have a matte texture and rounded off edges. The 2019 Holiday campaign came together beautifully and it was a great collaboration between Team Roger TV and Team Nick.
