ROLE: DESIGN DIRECTOR
NICK SUMMER 2020
We were planning the Nick Summer campaign right at the beginning of Covid lockdown in March 2020. We knew that shooting anything with kiddos would be tough but we wanted our package to feel relatable to kids. We felt the best way to do that was to include kids instead of going fully graphic. With those guidelines in mind we decided we could breathe new life into exisitng footage of kids we had by animating over the footage and enhancing it with illustrative doodles. Our theme was imaginition meets IRL. The hand-drawn doodles on paper texture mixed with photo collage was informed by a kids style of illustration and collage. Also the photo collages allowed us to create scenes where the kids were seemingly interacting from one photo frame to the next. This way, even if the kids couldn’t be in the same physical space,they could share in some fun together.
